Terms and Conditions
We’re trying to keep our terms and conditions as simple as possible, so here goes:
Booking T’s and C’s
1: Your booking on any course is only confirmed when we receive your payment in full.
2: You have 7 days after making your booking in which you may change your mind and we will refund your payment in full. Just write to us or email us. After this time refunds will be at our discretion and all such refunds will be subject to a deduction of £20 to cover administration costs.
3: We will make every effort possible to accommodate changing the dates you have booked on any of our scheduled courses, and providing you inform us at least 10 days before the scheduled date AND we can fill the place/s, we will arrange alternate dates for you at no extra cost. If you have booked a Helmsman’s course on your boat, a bespoke Helmsman’s course on our boat or you have booked all three places on a scheduled Helmsman’s course we will reschedule the course at no extra cost up to 5 days before the scheduled date.
4: You may change the student name at any time up to the start of the course with no additional cost.
5: Our Helmsman’s courses require a minimum of two students to enable us to handle the boat safely and correctly. In the event that we are unable to run the course because of insufficient numbers then we will either find a suitable alternate date for you, or refund your money in full. We will attempt to give you as much notice as possible, however NBSC cannot be responsible for incidental expenses such as non returnable rail fares or hotel deposits unless agreed before the cancellation or change is made.
6: In the unlikely event that we have to change or cancel any of our scheduled courses we will either refund your money in full or arrange an alternate date suitable for you. We will attempt to give you as much notice as possible, however NBSC cannot be responsible for incidental expenses such as non returnable rail fares or hotel deposits unless agreed before the cancellation or change is made.
General T’s and C’s
1: We take your safety seriously and do all that we can to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience, however it is your responsibility to ensure that you dress and behave in an appropriate manner for the course you are attending and follow the directions of your instructor at all times. If the instructor thinks that your behaviour or attire is not appropriate he will not allow you to continue with the course.
2: Some of our courses require physical effort and agility either in using power tools or operating locks / swing bridges. If you are uncertain of your ability to perform such tasks, please speak to us before you book and we will discuss the requirements in more detail with you.
3: We are not responsible for the loss or damage of any of your personal property while you are on the course.
4: For our classroom/workshop based courses you must be over 16 to attend. For our boat based courses the minimum age for our crew course is 8 and if you are under 16 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please call us to discuss before booking.
Cancellation due to weather
Whilst we will make every effort to ensure that all our boating courses take place irrespective of the weather, high winds will not only impact on the safety of those on the boat but also on the enjoyment of the attendees of the course. In order to give as much notice as possible of a cancellation we use the Met Office weather forecast as a guide for potential winds three days before the scheduled date. If the Met Office predicts sustained winds in excess of 17MPH or gusts exceeding 30MPH for Debdale we will cancel the course and attempt to reschedule. Our normal cancellation conditions (above) apply.
