It is a highly practical course with the majority of the day spent out on the water or on the bank mooring up or working locks. As such it is important that you have suitable clothes (including wet weather gear) and sturdy non slip shoes (no flip flops or sandals). It is also recommended that you bring a hat in the unlikely event that the sun is shining. We are governed by the weather and we will run the course unless the weather means that doing so would be unsafe. For complete details of how we determine this please see our Terms and Conditions. Lifejackets are provided and wearing them is mandatory.
At NBSC we’re committed to ensuring that you can enjoy your boating in the safest possible manner. It doesn’t matter how careful we are accidents can and do happen. Be prepared for that by enrolling on our BOAT SAFETY PACKAGE which includes the RYA Helmsman’s course and the RYA First Aid course and get a massive 15% discount off both courses.
