This year we have split our Boat Electrics and plumbing course in two following feedback from the participants that they would like even more subjects to be covered than we could possibly manage in the two days available to us. The Boat Electric Systems course see the existing subjects expanded and a whole raft of new subject introduced.
Aimed at those people who are keen to do some refitting work or a complete fit out of a sailaway the course offers a practical introduction to the design, materials, tools and techniques of projects that are within the reach of people who have little hands on experience of this type of work.
RCD and BSS requirements
Basic electrical theory, volts, amps, watts and resistance.
Calculation of voltage drop and wire sizes.

12 / 24v Domestic Circuit design, breakers, fuses, lighting, pumps
12 / 24v Engine room design, cable sizing, battery types and sizes, split charging.
240v Circuit Design
Cable termination and labelling
Battery Selection and installation
Alternate energy sources, Solar, Wind, Generators and travel packs. Selection and installation.
Selection and installation of Inverters, chargers and Combi’s
Practical circuit installation including lighting, pumps, 240v, combi’s and solar panels
Testing and fault finding.
Information and control systems Masterbus and VEbus
Generators, selection and installation
Split charging, multiple alternators
